January 27, 1976 Missoula Police Sergeant Donald E. Gregory was killed in the basement of a north side home.
Officers had responded to a call of a disturbance, during which a gun had been fired. They were attempting to subdue a suspect when another police officer’s shotgun accidentally discharged, striking Sergeant Gregory.
